According to a study by OneVet, only 24% of dog owners report hassle-free experiences when bathing their dog.

This means that for every 100 dog owners, 76 of them struggle with the task of bathing their furry friend. That's not on!

Like a relaxing human bath, dog bath time should also be a calming and enjoyable experience for both the dog and the owner. Your pooch should feel pampered and looked after, not stressed and scared.

This is where our Beach Showers come in...

The importance of bathing your dog post-adventure

Dogs are always gonna dog, which means they're naturally drawn to running, jumping and playing in the great outdoors.

While this is excellent for their physical and mental health, it also means that they can get pretty dirty and smelly from all that fun.

Without regular baths, dirt, bacteria and parasites can build up on your dog's fur and skin, leading to potential health issues such as skin infections or allergies. Not only that, but a stinky dog may also not be the most welcome guest in your home or car… unless they're your go-to scapegoat for a particularly stinky fart, that is.

Not convinced yet?

This article from Wired reports that dogs and even cats (which are known to be self-groomers) can carry germs from the outdoors into your home. Warning: you might not want to read this if your dog or cat sleeps with you!

The benefits of portable showers for bathing dogs

The old water bottle or public shower tap can be used to bathe your dog post-adventure, but they're not exactly the most convenient or hygienic options. Enter portable showers for dogs.

Not only do these showers provide a more controlled and efficient bathing experience, but they're also specifically designed with dogs in mind.

Don't let the name fool you. Our Beach Showers can bathe dogs. Here's why it's a game-changer for both you and your furry friend.

Removes salt and sand residue that can irritate a dog's skin

Whether you live in Australia, Europe or the States, beach time with the dog is always fun.

You can let them run free and explore this foreign environment. For your dog, the beach is a sensory paradise.

But when it's time to go home, you want to make sure that all sand and saltwater residue is removed from their fur and skin. Otherwise, this can irritate their delicate skin and cause dryness or itching.

A portable outdoor shower with fresh water helps to rinse away these residues quickly and efficiently… and save your car from an unintended and unwelcome paw print pattern.

Perfect for dogs who don't like cold water

Hate cold showers when the mercury drops? Guess what... so does your dog!

Surprisingly, many dogs don't like cold water and will refuse to go near a hose or an outdoor tap in the dead of winter. This can make bath time a bit of a battle between owner and pooch, which is exactly what we're trying to avoid.

Fortunately, you can fill our portable showers with warm water (<50˚C). You can then treat your pup to a warm shower that they'll actually enjoy!

Helps to clean and deodorise the dog's coat

It's often said that a shiny coat is a healthy coat, which is why dog groomers always aim to create a glossy, smooth coat for your pooch.

Regular baths with a high-quality shampoo and conditioner can do wonders not just for the appearance of your dog's coat but also for their overall cleanliness. A portable shower allows you to get right into those hard-to-reach areas and give your dog a thorough clean.

Plus, it helps eliminate any lingering odours from that pile of dried seaweed they just rolled in.

Less scary or invasive than a battery-powered shower

Some dogs can handle thunderstorms, sirens and loud noises. Most dogs can't.

Having a portable shower that's pump-operated (as opposed to battery-operated) ensures that bath time won't scare your dog. Once you pump your Beach Shower you can simply pull the trigger for a controlled flow of water.

No whirring, buzzing or weird noises. Just the sound of running water, which your dog will probably love anyway.

Provides an opportunity to check for ticks and fleas

Tick and flea season is a real thing that can cause major problems for your dog if left untreated.

Various diseases and infections can be transmitted by these pesky critters, which is why it's important to check your dog regularly for any signs of infestation. If you're like us, you probably don't do it as often as you should.

One of the low-key benefits of owning a Beach Shower though is that it provides you with a moment to inspect your dog's coat for any ticks or fleas while they're being bathed.

Side note: affix the nozzle to a hard surface using our showerhead holder and use both hands to check your dog's coat thoroughly.

Saves time and effort compared to traditional bathing methods

There's an entire industry dedicated to bathing dogs. This should be evidence enough that it's not an easy task.

From chasing a soapy dog around the bathtub to trying to rinse them off with a small cup of water, traditional bathing methods can be exhausting and time-consuming for both you and your dog.

With a portable shower, you have more control over where the water goes and how much is used, making bath time simpler and faster.

No more chasing or wrestling with your pup in the cramped space of a traditional bathroom.

No more back-breaking bending over the tub!

Promotes a stronger bond between dog and owner

Last but certainly not least, treating your pup to a luxurious cold/warm water shower post-adventure can help strengthen the bond between you and your four-legged friend.

By taking the time to care for their well-being and comfort, you're not just fulfilling a basic need but also showing them love and affection.

It's not just homo sapiens who love being pampered, after all.

How best to use our portable dog showers in 8 easy steps

To effectively use our portable showers to bathe your dog, follow these steps.

  1. Pull out the pressure release valve to ensure any existing pressure in the tank is released
  1. Unscrew the pump handle in an anticlockwise direction to open the tank
  1. Fill the tank with water until it's just over three-quarters full
  1. Screw the pump handle back in a clockwise direction to secure it
  1. Pump the handle until the desired pressure is reached
  1. For a thorough and comfortable wash, select the appropriate spray mode (more info on showerhead modes) for your dog's size and coat type
  1. Begin by wetting your dog. Optional: apply pet-friendly shampoo and use the portable shower to rinse thoroughly
  1. Once the bath is complete, pull out the pressure release valve again to release any remaining pressure before storing the unit
